6 Then he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree, planted in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it, but did not find any. 7 So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ‘For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’
8 “‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone for one more year, and I’ll dig around it and fertilize it. 9 If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.’” (Lk 13:6-9, NIV)
I once heard Greg Laurie say that "we are not called to be the judge of the world, however we are called to be fruit inspectors". Our lives will be known by the fruit we bear. The amazing thing about this parable is that the tree is inspected, is not bearing fruit (and hasn't for three years), the worker has every right to cut it down, because quite frankly a fruit tree that isn't bearing fruit is just taking up space, but yet the owner of the tree gives it another chance.
As God's child we are His representative here and now, therefore our lives should be bearing His fruit. So if He inspected your life right now, would he find fruit?
If not there is time, and you can.
Just a thought, chris
