7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Sa 16:7, NIV)
I wish so hard that you and I could see people the way God does. We judge before someone ever speaks a word, or before we even know them. We judge them based upon nothing more than appearance.
The Lord had sent Samuel to Jesse's house because He said that the next king would come from there. Jesse was excited thinking it was one of his older son's. All of them passed by, and each one Samuel said this is not him. He then asks Jesse if this was it. Jesse responded no that there was one left, his youngest, but he was the runt and didn't seem to be "qualified" to be the next king. To his (and everyone else's) surprise when David arrived, Samuel said this is the one and they anointed him as the next king.
Point being no matter how someone's appearance is, don't discount them. They may look, act, or think differently than you or I, but that doesn't mean they are any less capable. Start by getting to know them, make that change from judging from first look.
God took a look at my insides and saw who I could be, would you take that same time??
