you got that (half) right

“If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. 4 If he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you and says, ‘I repent,’ forgive him.” (Lk 17:3-4, NIV)

Don't you just love it when people point out your wrongs.  Just makes my day.  We love to do that, It's like being an umpire and getting to call someone "out".  We get the first part of this, we love to "rebuke".  However we are only getting it half right.

I know people that hold grudges, do you?  Of course you do.  Jesus tells us that if they repent we are to forgive.  Grudge or forgiveness?  It's our choice.

You don't know what they did...

doesn't matter, Jesus took it a step farther, He says if they did it seven times in one day (extreme?) and they keep coming back to you and repenting (saying they are sorry) each time forgive, forgive, forgive, forgive, forgive, forgive, forgive, forgive, and forgive.  Yes, i know that was more than seven, but hope that makes a point.

You don't know what they did....seriously, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY DID!!!!

God saw it, your job is to forgive.....

I know it's hard, God knows its hard...

Chris
